Project Description:
The SR-900 Improvements for Talus, almost one mile in length, represented the
umbilical cord for that new community. The improvements replaced an aged,
two-lane roadway with a three-lane+ improvement. The extra-wide shoulder
expansions permit pre-built conversions into more traveled lanes. The right of
way to right of way improvements required surgical assessment of existing slope
and wetland constraints. Construction of an integral soldier pile wall and
Jersey barrier minimized wetland intrusion along the easterly limits of
construction. Beneath the roadway, utility extensions competed for real estate.
The Talus development is served by two, independent, water systems, three
separate storm drainage systems, an extension of the Metro sanitary sewer
system; and, redundant power, telephone and fiber optics facilities requiring
close coordination with multiple jurisdictions.
