Project Description:
Triad Associates’ surveyors recently performed a 3D laser
scan on the interior of the Hollywood Pump Station for King County Wastewater
Treatment Division engineering designers and drafters. We discussed and
demonstrated the equipment’s capabilities while scanning the pump station’s
control and motor rooms. King County engineers traditionally collect critical
mechanical plant, as-built information with a digital camera and tape measure.
They were impressed with the accuracy of the data obtained with the laser
scanner and the idea of creating as-built drawings by accessing the scan data
using Leica’s free TruView software.
