Seattle, Washington Project Description: In 1996, Triad Associates began working
with Unocal on this 6-acre former fuel storage complex. Our survey work
supported the site cleanup necessary after more than 60 years of fuel-handling
operations. Trained for work on Level “C” hazardous materials sites, we staked
and monitored shoring piles during excavation, performed topographic surveys and
calculated quantities for unsuitable soil removal, and wrote legal descriptions
for Elliott Avenue restrictive covenants. In 1999, The Trust for Public Land and
the Seattle Art Museum acquired rights to purchase the property; today it’s a
dynamic urban park and restored ecosystem.
