Project Description:
Kentlake Highlands is a 310-lot, single-family residential community located in
King County, Washington.
Triad took advantage of the variations in the area’s soil types to provide an
innovative drainage solution saving the client costs that would have been
otherwise encountered using conventional measures. Stormwater flows were
collected from developed site areas and conveyed to a retention basin located in
an area of the site with highly permeable outwash soils well suited for
infiltration, while maintaining recharge for numerous onsite wetlands. For
overflow protection, a 965-foot long, 24-inch diameter tightline was installed
from the retention basin around the neighboring
Kentlake High School
campus to safely convey excess runoff from storms up to and including the
100-year event. In 2007, our Kentlake Highlands’
design team won a Seattle-chapter ASCE Honor Award for “Site Development and
Water Resources.
